and story into a clear whole.
A good explainer video is more than just illustration and animation. It saves time and creates clarity. It reduces complex content to its essence and makes it quickly graspable. Every project begins with a good understanding of the content and target audience.

What is an explainer video?
An explainer video is a short video that clearly explains and visually presents complex content, products, or processes. It helps to grasp connections more quickly and convey information clearly. Especially with topics that require explanation, an explainer video ensures that content is not only seen but also understood.
Typical characteristics:
- Clear story / common thread
- Voiceover / narration
- Concise and easy to understand
- Often structured didactically (problem → solution)
Examples:
- "How does our product work?"
- "What does our company do?"
- "How does a process work?"
Why are explainer videos worthwhile for companies?
An explainer video answers the questions your customers would otherwise ask in person, by email or through support. It answers them consistently well every time. It shortens sales conversations, unburdens your team and makes complex offers immediately understandable on your website, at trade fairs and in presentations.
A well-designed explainer video often remains in use for years. The effort is thus spread across many contacts.
Which target groups are explainer videos suitable for?
Wherever people need to understand something quickly: B2B and B2C customers, new employees during onboarding, trade audiences at exhibitions, or citizens involved in public projects.
We adapt the language, pace, and visual style for each target group. A film for engineers looks different from one for schoolchildren.
How long should an explainer video be?
For websites and sales, 60 to 90 seconds works well. That's about 150 to 220 words of voiceover. For social media, 15 to 30 seconds is often enough.
For training and e-learning content, we prefer to divide it into several short chapters rather than creating one long film. We'll determine the ideal length together during the concept phase.
How much does an explainer video cost?
The price depends mainly on the length, style and detail of the animation. It also depends on whether we develop custom characters and how many language versions you need.
After a brief chat, you will receive a fixed-price quote covering all services: concept, script, design, animation, voice-over artist and music. Our price guide on the blog provides a detailed overview.
How long does it take to produce an explainer video?
Allow four to six weeks from briefing to the finished film. You provide feedback after each phase. This way, there are no surprises at the end.
- Briefing and concept
- Script and voiceover text
- Styleframes and storyboard
- Animation
- Voice recording and sound design
Create an explainer video with AI?
We use AI where it saves time: for research, initial text versions, or translations. What AI cannot do is understand your topic and target audience, create a unique visual language for your brand, or develop a dramaturgy that truly explains.
Generated videos often appear interchangeable and contain errors in detail. Read more about this in our blog.
Create an explainer video yourself?
You can create a simple video yourself with toolkit tools, for internal purposes for example. But there are limits when it comes to complex topics: template characters, standard animations and a lack of concept make it hard to be memorable.
If the film is to represent your brand, a studio that provides concept, design and animation from a single source is a worthwhile investment.
